Are there insurance discounts available when adding a young driver?

With most companies there are three discounts available:

  • Good Student Discount - requires a 3.0 or the equivalent grade point average.
  • Driver's Education Discount - verify approved courses with insurance company.
  • Safe Driver - driving incident, even with a permit, can increase your premium.

How soon can my teenager begin driver's education classes and get his/her learner's permit?

In Colorado, teenagers can receive their learner's permit on their 15th birthday if they have completed a 30 hour classroom course and passed their written permit test. For that reason, many teens choose to start their driver's education classes well in advance of their 15th birthday.

Will the Behind-the-Wheel instruction be in your car or ours?

All Behind-the-Wheel instruction is done in our cars which are equipped with dual brakes and mirrors to give the instructor control of the vehicle, if necessary. Driver's tests can be conducted in your car or one of ours (depending upon availability of a car at that time).

Who is my student allowed to drive with now that they have their permit?

Legally, there must be at least one person who signed the Affidavit of Liability and Guardianship or Affidavit of Completion in the car while the student is driving. We recommend each person that is over 21 and will assist in the 50 hour requirement sign the affidavit.

Where do I get the Colorado Driving Handbook to study for the permit test?

You can obtain the Colorado Driving Handbook at your local DMV or on their website at http://www.colorado.gov/revenue/dmv.
